Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Best book so far I read on online research
I have read , Information Trapping by Tara Calishain(read my review), Mastering Online Research by Maura Shaw and now, Find it Online.

In my opinion , Find it Online is the best. I learned so much more about online research from it then the previous 2 books. That not say, that I didnt learn anything for Information Trapping, it is great for information that need constant updating and Online Research, I learned to use advanced searching more effectively.

  • Funding a Revolution

Funding a RevolutionFunding a Revolution, by: Committee on Innovations in Computing and Communications: Lessons from History, National Research Council

The past 50 years have witnessed a revolution in computing and related communications technologies. The contributions of industry and university researchers to this revolution are manifest; less widely recognized is the major role the federal government played in launching the computing revolution and sustaining its momentum. Funding a Revolution examines the history of computing since World War II to elucidate the federal government's role in funding computing research, supporting the education of computer scientists and engineers, and equipping university research labs. It reviews the economic rationale for government support of research, characterizes federal support for computing research, and summarizes key historical advances in which government-sponsored research played an important role.
Funding a Revolution contains a series of case studies in relational databases, the Internet, theoretical computer science, artificial intelligence, and virtual reality that demonstrate the complex interactions among government, universities, and industry that have driven the field. It offers a series of lessons that identify factors contributing to the success of the nation's computing enterprise and the government's role within it.

What Are Rich Internet Applications?
Written by Admin
Sunday, 17 August 2008
Rich Internet Applications (abbreviated ARI) are pieces of software that lets you get in your Web browser, that almost mimic the behavior and functionality of desktop applications. A good example that most people are familiar with Gmail, Google's email service which behaves somewhat like e-mail software installed on your computer.

In the early days of the Internet are static pages of text and images connected by hypertext links. To interact with a website normally users clicked on something and waited for a new page to load. Although hypertext links are still valuable, modern Web browsers offer many ways for users to interact with Web sites.

Today, there are word processors, spreadsheets, online games, and all sorts of other applications developed as ARI. The advantage of the technology RIA is that people can connect to a Web site, use the software they need without having to install anything on their own computer. RIA technology also provides a consistent experience for people who use Mac, PC and other systems.

How Do Hydrogen Fuel Systems Work
Written by Admin
Friday, 15 August 2008
Other sources of fuel are of interest not only to research-class enterprises, but also for the average consumer. Rising gas prices have forced everyone, except the extravagant wealth, to make sacrifices and find new ways to power their vehicles. A general desire to save on gas led to an increase in the purchase of hybrid and electric cars.

For those who can not accommodate vehicles, improving transport current efficiency is the only option left. So far, the most effective way to significantly increase gas mileage is to install a system to hydrogen fuel, which employs only water to operate.
Hydrogen is created by electrolysis of water. Electricity is taken from the car battery and used as a catalyst to stimulate electrolysis. Hydrogen burns cleanly created much more than regular fuel and increase the efficiency of gasoline. Only twenty per cent of the energy released by the combustion of gas will go to a vehicle, the other eighty percent of heat loss and other forms of energy. A water supply system allows the engine to draw more power usable. When people think of other fuels, gasoline is never on the list. However, if the fuel could be made to work and nearly one hundred percent efficiency, there would be no oil crisis.
